Wigan RLFC Heritage Society – Home

Welcome to the official website of the Wigan RLFC Heritage Society. The Wigan Rugby Heritage Society is being set up to preserve and promote the Heritage of the Wigan Warriors. As a non-profit, members Society, it will remain independent but work in partnership with the club and be recognised as a main source of historical and statistical information

  • The last 18 months have seen the ageing fan base grow even older and, to some extent, come slightly disillusioned with the sport of Rugby League. The 2022 season is the perfect opportunity to create a fan led Wigan RLFC Heritage Society, bringing supporters together to create a reference point for the club’s history.
  • Many supporters have pieces of memorabilia and heirlooms linked to the history of Wigan RLFC and over the last 2 years these have been started to be sold and purchased by individual and private collectors, never to be seen again.
  • One aim of the Wigan RLFC Heritage Society would be to purchase these items and keep them in a trust, to be enjoyed by future generations and saving the legacy and history of this great club.
  • The aim of the Heritage Society would be one of the first point of enquiries from the club, Rugby League historians and the general public on the history of Wigan RLFC. This would be run by volunteers with a passion for preserving the history of Wigan RLFC.
  • To actively promote knowledge of the club’s history through meetings, exhibitions, special anniversary events and other appropriate methods.
  • Collect and collate The Wigan RLFC Collection and provide support through a ‘Wigan RLFC Collection’ trust through suitable methods such as crowd funding, fundraising and donations with regular meetings taking place for members to sit, discuss, reminisce and view the items in the collection.
  • This would be a purely non profit organisation designed to preserve and promote the Heritage of the Rugby league Club. As a members organisation it would remain independent, but work in partnership with the club and be recognised as a main source of historical and statistical information and be used as an archive for historic artifacts
